Venttura Adult Turkey & Duck | India's First Cold-Pressed Dog Food for Adult Dogs of All Breeds
Benefit of Ingredients
Okay, so what even IS cold pressed dog food?
Picture a chef who refuses to rush - low heat, no shortcuts, no compromises Instead of blasting ingredients at furnace-level heat like regular kibble, Venttura is gently pressed at 75°C - just enough to make it safe and shelf-stable, while keeping the good stuff (nutrients, flavour, dignity) intact.
How is it different from regular kibble?
Regular kibble goes through extrusion - high heat, steam, puffing. It's basically the microwave popcorn of dog food. Venttura is made differently: lower temperature, no puffing, no air pockets. Dense, compact, and, nutrient rich.
Why are the pellets so small and dense? Is something wrong?
Nope, everything's very right. Kibble is hollow and puffed up with air - like a rice puff. Cold pressed pellets are solid all the way through. Think energy bar vs. puffed rice cake. Same calories, very different volume. Your dog is getting more per bite, not less.
Why do some pellets look different from others?
Because they're made by a machine pressing ingredients into shape - not stamped out by a factory cookie cutter. Small differences in shape and size are completely normal and have zero effect on quality or nutrition. Imperfect looking, perfectly nutritious.
There's powder/dust at the bottom of the bag. Should I be worried?
Not at all. Because the pellets are softer (gently pressed, not baked hard), they naturally create a little dust as they rub against each other. It's still 100% food - just in a finer form. You can mix it into your dog's bowl, or head over to our "Don't Ditch the Dust" section for some fun ways to use it.
Will it bloat in my dog's stomach?
This is actually one of the best things about cold pressed food - it doesn't swell up in the gut the way extruded kibble can. It gradually softens with moisture and breaks down smoothly. Much easier on the tummy, especially for dogs with sensitive digestion.
Is it really easier to digest?
Many pet parents notice firmer stools and better digestion after switching. The food breaks down more naturally, which tends to agree with most dogs. Individual results vary - every dog is different - but the feedback has been pretty great.
The portion looks tiny. Am I underfeeding my dog?
We get this one a lot. Because the pellets are dense (not air-filled), the portions are smaller by volume - but nutritionally complete. Think of it like comparing a handful of almonds to a bowl of puffed snacks. Follow the feeding chart based on your dog's weight and activity level, and resist the urge to top it up just because it looks small.
How do I switch my dog over to Venttura?
Slowly and steadily wins the race here. Over 7–10 days, gradually swap out the old food:
- Days 1–3: 25% Venttura, 75% old food
- Days 4–6: 50/50
- Days 7–9: 75% Venttura
- Day 10: Full Venttura
This gives the gut time to adjust and keeps things comfortable.
Can I mix it with home-cooked food?
Yes - just make sure the overall diet stays balanced. Cold pressed food is complete on its own, so if you're adding home-cooked extras, keep an eye on the total nutrition picture.
Is it a complete food, or do I need to add supplements?
Completely complete. Just follow the feeding chart based on your dog's weight and activity level. Nothing extra needed.
Is it suitable for all breeds?
Yes. Whether you have a feisty Chihuahua or a gentle Great Dane, the formula works for all breeds. You'll just adjust the quantity based on size and how active your dog is.
Can puppies eat it?
Yes - but make sure you're using the Venttura Junior formula, which is specifically developed for growing pups. Follow the puppy feeding guidelines for portion accuracy.
What will my dog's poop look like? (Asking for a friend.)
Better than before, honestly. Firm, well-formed stools are pretty standard once the digestive system adjusts - thanks to natural fibre and high digestibility. You might notice slightly larger stools in the first week as things settle in. Completely normal.
The protein and fat content seems moderate. Why isn't it higher?
Because Venttura is designed for the actual lives of urban Indian dogs - not sled dogs in Alaska. Most pet dogs in India live in apartments, go on leisurely walks and maybe a run on weekends. Excessively high protein and fat content (designed for working dogs in cold climates) just leads to unnecessary calories and, often, weight gain. Obesity is one of the biggest health challenges for Indian pets. Venttura is calibrated for real Indian dog lifestyle.
Why does it have lower vitamin-mineral levels than kibble?
Because it doesn't need to compensate for heat damage. Extruded kibble is made at very high temperatures, which destroy a lot of the natural vitamins and minerals - so manufacturers have to add large amounts of synthetic premixes back in. Since Venttura is made at lower temperatures, more of the natural nutrients survive the process. Less top-up needed.
Why are the Junior and Adult formulas so similar in nutrition?
Because dogs - puppies and adults - need the same core nutrients throughout life. The difference during puppyhood is about energy and building blocks for growth. When food is nutrient-dense and highly digestible, only small tweaks in protein, fat and minerals are needed to support healthy development. Same great foundation, slightly adjusted for the growth phase.
What's the difference between the different types of meat on the label?
Good question - here's the breakdown:
- Dehydrated turkey & duck meat - Fresh muscle meat with the water removed. Lower processing temperatures, better nutrient retention. This is the star ingredient.
- Dehydrated poultry/meat meal - Made by rendering mixed meat tissues at high heat (~130–150°C) to remove fat and moisture. More processed.
- Dehydrated poultry/meat protein - A concentrated protein extract from animal tissues, which may include feet, feathers, etc. Most processed of the three.
Venttura uses the first kind. Because your dog deserves actual meat.
What is Ahiflower® and why is it in here?
Ahiflower is a plant-based, non-GMO oil that's rich in omega fatty acids - specifically stearidonic acid (SDA), which the body efficiently converts into EPA (a key anti-inflammatory omega-3). It supports skin health, joint health, and immunity. Sustainably grown, it has a more complete omega profile than both fish oil and flaxseed oil.
What is "Easy Digest" in the ingredient list?
It's a patented blend of pre, pro, and postbiotics - essentially a gut health support system. Together they help improve digestion, nutrient absorption, and microbiome balance, which means less bloating, better immunity, and more comfortable digestion overall. 70% of your dog’s immune system is in their gut.
What does Ascophyllum nodosum do?
It's a natural seaweed that helps reduce plaque formation and keeps breath fresher. So your dog can give you all the face kisses and licks without the dreaded ‘doggie breath’.
What are the ProAge phytonutrients doing in there?
They're a patented blend of plant-based botanicals from turmeric, rosemary, cloves, lemon and aloe vera with potent antioxidant properties - protecting your dog's cells from free radicals, toxin-related stress, and the effects of ageing. Think of them as the internal bodyguards.
How does cold pressed food compare to air-dried, freeze-dried or raw?
All of them can be nutritionally complete when properly formulated - the real difference is in ingredients, formulation quality, and processing method.
Cold pressed sits in a sweet spot: it's gently processed (not as extreme as extrusion), shelf-stable (unlike raw), nutritionally complete and balanced (unlike home-cooked) safe (unlike improperly handled raw), and far more affordable than freeze-dried. It's practical, well-formulated food for everyday feeding.
If it's cooked at low temperature, is it actually safe?
Yes. Safety in dry dog food isn't just about cooking temperature - it's about moisture. Bacteria need water to survive. Venttura is a dry food with very low moisture content, which prevents bacterial growth and gives it a long shelf life. Safe, stable, and no fridge needed.
Do I need to refrigerate it?
No. Store it at room temperature, in a cool dry place, away from sunlight and moisture. Keep the bag tightly sealed using the first of its kind in pet food in India, zip/velcro closure and you're good.
Can I feed it alongside wet or raw food?
Yes, you can mix and match. That said, many pet parents prefer to keep things consistent - feeding one type at a time makes it easier to track digestion and ensure balanced intake.
How should I store it?
In the original bag, at room temperature, in a cool and dry spot. No special containers needed. Just make sure the bag is sealed properly after every use.
Where is Venttura made?
It's manufactured in Europe, to ISO 9001 and HACCP quality standards, using high-precision processes. The formula is developed specifically for Indian dogs and meets FEDIAF nutritional guidelines.
Is it sustainable?
Yes. Lower cooking temperatures mean less energy use. Ahiflower® is a regeneratively grown, plant-based omega source (so no fish meal dependency). And responsible sourcing is built into how the product is made, not bolted on as an afterthought.
What bag sizes are available?
Both the Adult (Turkey & Duck) and Junior (Turkey & Duck) formulas come in: 1 kg | 3 kg
Start small to test it out, or go big once your dog's a fan - which, based on what we hear, happens pretty quickly.
